Sergeant Carson graduated from the Genesee Community College with a Associates Degree in Applied Science- Criminal Justice Degree in 1995. He then attended the Rural Police Training Academy and graduated with a New York State Police Officer Certificate in 1996. 

Sergeant Carson then attended the State University of New York at Geneseo and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Sociology. 

Sergeant Carson began his law enforcement career with the Mt. Morris Police Department in 1997, where he was able to reach the rank of Sergeant.

In 2004, he transferred to the Geneseo Police Department, where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2007.
